How varied a winter holiday in the Dolomites can be

Skiing on site, on the Plose or in the Gröden valley

In St. Magdalena, just 4 km from St. Peter, there is the ski lift to the family ski area Filler. A ski hut with a sun terrace, a ski school, a children’s park and refreshments make this small but varied ski area very attractive for holidaymakers from the region. However, you can also go skiing on the Plose, the local mountain of Brixen. In just 30 minutes you reach this winter sports area with 40 km of slopes up to heights of 2,400 m, while the total of 175 kilometers of varied slopes of the ski region of Gröden / Seiser Alm can be reached in about 45 minutes during your winter holiday in the Dolomites.

Enjoying a holiday in the winter wonderland of the Dolomites

Extensive winter & snowshoe hiking

Curious winter hiking trails cross the entire Villnöss valley up to the Würzjoch. On secluded routes, you can roam the white splendour to your heart’s content and always find new spectacular winter impressions in Villnöss. If you want to leave the woods behind and get on our alpine pastures, we recommend snowshoeing. So you are more independent on the road and can also cross the Gampenalm, the Geisler Alm or the Dusler Alm and warm up there with food and drink.

Ski tours to solitary peaks around Villnöss

Are you more likely to go to ski touring than snowshoeing in your winter holidays? For example, the Zendler Kofel (2,422 m) and the Gabler (2,576 m) can be reached by skis with climbing skins, alternatively you can glide over Bronsoijoch (2,300 m). These alpine highlights on the outskirts of the Villnöss valley are ideal destinations for ski tours with exceptional panoramic views.

Cross-country skiing during the winter holidays in the best-groomed cross-country ski trails

Down in the valley, on the other hand, there are some well-groomed cross-country ski runs that lead you through the quiet winter forest at the bottom of the Peitlerkofel  (2,875 m) along the Würzjoch. A nice round loop also makes you acquainted with the wintery Zanser Alm. In Villnöss in winter there is a cross-country ski run of about 20 km.

Huts charm and tobogganing during winter holidays with children

There is no winter holiday in the Dolomites without a good hut tour. The farms on the Geisler Alm, the Dusler and Gampenalm are particularly inviting on cold days and offer enchanting views of the snow-capped Dolomites peaks, depending on the weather conditions. From most of our alpine pastures, you can wonderfully make the return trip on a toboggan. The natural toboggan run from the Dusler Alm has a total length of 4.3 km and also makes great fun at night under the star-pocked winter sky.

Ice skating with the family & bathing fun in Brixen

And if you have already tried everything else in Villnöss in winter, you can turn pirouettes on the ice rink of the Pizack sport area or just let your blades flash. However, if you should be more attracted by warmer climes, you can always pay a visit to the Acquarena, an adventure and wellness centre in Brixen, which is a true relaxation wonder on cold winter days.
